The Competitive program is for swimmers who are interested in the challenges of a competitive synchronized swimming environment.  Here, swimmers develop and improve their synchro skills and choreography while competing at the provincial level.   The competitive team experience fosters a love of sport, leadership skills and a strong work ethic. In addition, athletes develop goal-setting skills as well as self-evaluation and self-awareness.  Team categories are based on Synchro Ontario’s age-based system.

Ottawa Synchro provides programming to meet the needs of all swimmers.  Swimmers at the Competitive level are expected to commit to the entire 9 month competitive season, as well as to 5 1/2  to 13 hours per week of practice time (depending on the skill level they are at).  They will compete at three or four competitions each year, two of which typically take place out of town.  In addition to team routines, solo, duet and combo routines are offered to swimmers at the coaches’ discretion.  The competitive season includes a training and team placement camp in August.

Ottawa Synchro offers the most advantageous and convenient practice schedule in Eastern Ontario.

                                          Additional information
To register in a competitive program, the swimmer should consider the following information:

                                          • Minimum qualifications exist. Recreational synchronized swimmers or strong swimmers may request a try-out for placement on a competitive team. Girls new to this sport are encouraged to discuss competitive placement with the Head Coach.
                                          • Ottawa Synchro conducts evaluations by Synchro Ontario judges to determine specific and appropriate placement of every swimmer at the competitive level.
                                          • Opportunities: Duet competition is available on the recommendation of the Head Coach.
                                          • Schedules and team composition are subject to change after registration at the discretion of the head coach based on enrollment.
                                          • Applicable fees are based on team placement, not individual swimmer age.
                                          • Families who register two or more swimmers receive 15% discount for each additional swimmer (second, third and so on).
                                          • Fees for the competitive programs can be paid in full at registration or can be divided in four installments payable in September, December, January and February. All four post-dated cheques are required and specific dates will be provided at the time of registration. Cheques or money order are payable to Ottawa Synchro or Ottawa Synchronized Swim Club.
                                          • All fees are non-refundable, except with immediate notice of illness or accident and with a doctor's certificate.
                                          • Additional costs for competitive swimmers include equipment such as team suits, practice suits, Ottawa Synchro track jacket, etc. Additionally there are costs associated with competition travel within Ontario for provincial-level athletes. Most competitive equipment, nose plugs and swim caps are available at registration and throughout the year from our equipment coordinator.
