Recreational Program
The Recreational Program is for swimmers with little or no
synchro experience who wish to learn the sport, or those looking for an alternative to traditional swimming lessons. Participants are introduced to the fundamental sculls, basic figures and various routine components of early synchronized swimming, in addition to other disciplines aimed at improving strength, coordination and flexibility. A minimum level of AquaQuest 7 (Swimmer 4) or equivalent is required.
Girls participate in weekly practices in a non-competitive environment. Emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of synchronized swimming, team-building and enjoyment of the sport. Recreational swimmers participate in the National Synchro Canada Star Program, and perform their routines at Ottawa Synchro’s end-of-season Watershows.
Season: Fall session – September to December
Winter session – January to May
Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours per week

Recreational 1 (Plant Bath): Tuesdays, 17:00 - 18:00 (1 hour per week) currently taking registrations
Recreational 2(Carleton University): Saturdays, 08:30 - 10:00 (1 1/2 hours per week)
Recreational 2(Brewer Pool): Mondays & Thursdays, 18:00 - 19:00 (2 hours per week) currently taking registrations
Recreational 3 - for teens (Carleton University): Saturdays, 08:00 - 10:00 (2 hours per week)

Ottawa Synchro is a member of Synchro Ontario, which oversees synchronized swimming programs in Ontario. Recreational swimmers are automatically registered with Synchro Ontario and Synchro Canada.

- Please note that all programs and sessions are subject to minimum enrollment.
- Families who register two or more swimmer receive 15% discount for each additional swimmer (second, third and so on).
- Fees for the Recreational Program are payable at the registration or at the first class. Please make cheques or money order payable to the Ottawa Synchronized Swim Club or Ottawa Synchro.
- All fees are non-refundable, except with immediate notice of illness or accident and with a doctor's certificate.
- Additional costs: Swimmers will need to obtain a set of goggles, nose plugs and a swim cap. Goggles, nose plugs and swim caps are available at registration and throughout the year from our equipment coordinator.
